Interferences and coherent control of excitons in GaAs quantum wells

چکیده
Coherent control and light–heavy-hole beats observed in transient optical experiments in GaAs quantum wells are discussed in terms of a free-boson model. The properties of the exactly calculated wavefunction of the photoexcited system lead to a reinterpretation of the beats as due to classical electromagnetic interference, in contrast to the widely used quantum description based on few-level representations.

متن کاملKinetics of indirect photoluminescence in GaAs/AlxGa12xAs double quantum wells in a random potential with a large amplitude
The kinetics of indirect photoluminescence of GaAs/AlxGa12xAs double quantum wells, characterized by a random potential with a large amplitude ~the linewidth of the indirect photoluminescence is comparable to the binding energy of an indirect exciton! in magnetic fields B<12 T at low temperatures T>1.3 K is investigated. It is found that the indirectrecombination time increases with the magneti...
متن کاملComparative study of the negatively and positively charged excitons in GaAs quantum wells
We compare the photoluminescence spectra of the negatively and positively charged excitons in GaAs quantum wells. We use a structure which enables us to observe both complexes within the same sample. We find that their binding energy and Zeeman splitting are very similar at zero magnetic field, but evolve very differently at high fields. We discuss the implications of these observations on our ...

We implement optical spectroscopy to study charged excitons in modulation-doped GaAs/AIGaAs quantum wells. We report the fLrs~ observation of the positively charged exciton and of the triplet state of the negatively charged exciton. Applyin~g a gate voltage at high magnetic fields, we investigate the transition between metallic and insulating state~ We find that while the photoluminescence fine...
متن کاملResonant photodiffractive effect in semi - insulating multiple quantum wells
Received November 28, 1989; accepted April 10, 1990 We use semi-insulating multiple quantum wells to combine the holographic properties of the photorefractive effect with the large resonant optical nonlinearities of quantum-confined excitons. GaAs-AlGaAs multiplequantum-well structures are made semi-insulating by proton implantation. The implant damage produces defects that are available to tra...
